Provisional registration can be obtained within a matter of hours and remains valid for up to three months. This procedure is entirely paperless, requiring only scanned copies of the necessary documents, with original documentation to be submitted subsequently for permanent registration.
No initial survey is required for the registration of a newly built yacht when it has been constructed in accordance with Directive 2013/53/EU (which hasentirely replaced Directive 94/25/EC), the Code of Federal Regulations of the United States of America Title 33, Parts 181 and 183, or MGN Code 280(M) and MSN Code 1792(M) of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency of the United Kingdom. Compliance must be evidenced by a Declaration of Conformity with the above regulation(s).

Legal Definition of a Yacht (Montenegro Law):

Under the Law on Yachts of Montenegro, a yacht is defined as:
“A vessel intended for sport and leisure, used for private purposes or charter,of more than 7 metres in length, intended for longer stays at sea.”

Montenegro offers a fast, paperless provisional registration process. Provisional registration can be obtained within hours, is valid for up to three months, and allows you to operate your yacht while original documents are being processed.
